DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS OF OUR SCHOOL

DAY 1

THE EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION

On the 5th of September 2018 at 11.00am, the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations began with the Holy Mass, in the school auditorium.  The Fatima family, past and present, gathered to give Him thanks and praise for 60 years of blessings. Rev. Fr. Jose Kochamkunnel SDB, Provincial, Chennai, along with other priest graced the occasion as celebrants of the Holy Mass. 

DAY 2

THE GRAND EVENT

On 6th September 2018 at 5:00pm the grand diamond Jubilee celebration began with proud band announcing the 60yrs achievements and the arrival of the Chief Guests and Guest of honour.    To celebrate 60 years of glories and achievements, various events were organized.

Mr.U.Sagayam, IAS, Vice Chairman, Science city, chennai presided over the function. Rev.Sr.Nirmala Lazar, the mother provincial along with the present and past superiors and principals, and host of dignitaries were present as guest of honour.  The celebration Kick started with the prayer song. Rev.Sr. Silviya, the principal welcomed the gathering.  After which there was a welcome dance for Semozhiyam Thamizh mozhi. The LED screen behind casted the thamizh words and pictures which stirred the pride of being a tamilian. The celebration still more was made grand and memorable by the kids who enacted as Don Bosco, St.  Mary Mazarello, superiors and principals of past and present.

‘When we honour the past, we energize the future and the present becomes a celebration.’

The celebrations continued with the felicitation of the former Superiors, Principals, teachers, maintenance staff and all those who contributed in their own little way to make Fatima what it is today. The Diamond Jubilee could well be called the Year of Gratitude, because we have so much to be thankful for.

After the felicitation, the chief guest Mr.U.Sagayam IAS, addressed the gathering, In his speech he spoke about the glory of the institution and gave some inspiring thoughts about how a student’s growth should be. He also stressed about agriculture and farmers. At last he ended saying a person’s real growth doesn’t depend upon his materialistic growth but with his human values.

There were many programs which were not only an entertaining but a meaningful one. Every programme carried a serious theme along with it. Starting with

  • Jazz which showcased the real situation of the famers,
  • Folk dance like karakam, oyil, kambathu aattam, parai, kazhiyal and silambam called for the immediate need for taking up the traditional dance of the Tamilnadu which was in the edge of being extinct
  • Western dance by the little kids gave  relaxed moment for the spectators
  • A special video about the history of Fatima was casted which said about the past 60yrs travel of Fatima
  • Finally there was a traditional dance of India like Rajasthani Ghoomar,Gujarati Dandiya, Marathi Lavani, Assamese Bihu, Punjabi Bhangra which nailed that India is a country with unity in diversity.

Thus the celebration ended with vote of thanks and band playing the national Anthem

Thus the celebration was an opportunity for the school community to remember, reminisce and be proud of the accomplishments and achievements. The school has strived hard for 60 yrs to form morally upright, academically excellent, gentle mannered young women and this epic day again nails that it will continue to do so.
